Amanda and Justin’s engagement session at Filoli Gardens was such a joy to photograph. They wanted their photos to feel natural and full of emotion – images that would reflect the way they love each other in everyday life. Filoli, with its sweeping gardens, historic architecture, and golden light filtering through the trees, ended up being the perfect place to tell their story.

As a photographer, I’ve always believed that the most meaningful images come from a place of authenticity. My goal isn’t to stage every moment or direct every movement, but to create space where couples can simply be themselves. That’s when the real emotions, the laughter and natural connection, rise to the surface. During our photoshoot, Amanda and Justin were present with each other, and that presence allowed me to document their relationship in a way that feels genuine and true to who they are.

We wandered through Filoli’s gardens, stopping by the grand windows of the historic house, the winding paths lined with greenery, and the lily pond tucked away under the willows. Each spot offered a new backdrop, but what made the photos feel meaningful wasn’t the setting alone. – it was the way Amanda and Justin moved through it together. Whether they were wrapped up in each other’s arms or simply walking hand in hand, their connection brought the space to life.

My goal with every photoshoot is to document couples in a way that feels honest and true, and this day was a reminder of that intention. Amanda and Justin weren’t performing for the camera – they were simply showing up as themselves, and that translated into timeless, heartfelt images.

Photographing these two as we explored the beauty of Filoli Gardens was so special. The balance of elegance and nature at this location complemented Amanda and Justin’s vision for natural, emotional photographs. I’m so grateful I had the chance to capture this chapter in their love story, and I look forward to photographing their wedding next year.
